NEW DELHI: Non-government organisation "Prayas'' along with the Delhi police has rescued five child labourers from a local "bindi"-making factory at Mubarakpur in Kanjahwala here. All the children were in the 9-to-12-years age group. Some of them were trafficked from Bihar and brought to Delhi. They told the Prayas team that they were badly beaten up by their employer and not given any salary. The rescue operation was mounted after one of the children ran away from the factory and was traced by the Prayas Childline team at New Delhi railway station. This child then helped trace the rest of the children working in the factory. As the team raided the factory on Thursday, the owner tried to hide the children by locking them up on the rooftop of his neighbour's premises. However, the police located and rescued all five of them.
