West Indies to tour India

BRIDGETOWN: The West Indies will play limited-overs matches in India as part of its preparations for the cricket World Cup.

The West Indies will travel for matches in Nagpur on January 21, Cuttack on Jan. 24, Chennai on Jan. 27 and Vadodara on Jan. 31, head coach Bennett King said on Friday.

The West Indies' provisional squad of 30 players for the World Cup will be announced on January 13, with the final 15-man roster to be announced on February 13, King said.

``My message to players is that their futures are in their hands ... not in the hands of selectors,'' King told reporters as he watched the Carib Beer match between Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago.

``We are pretty close to that 30. We just have a few more matches as we look to streamline,'' he said.

The West Indies has had mixed results in limited-overs matches in recent months. It reached the final of the Champions Trophy in India in early November, but lost to Australia. A month later, they lost three of four matches in Pakistan. — AP
