Kumaraswamy to open Srikshetra's exhibition

`The response is encouraging to the 14-day event'

TUMKUR: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the sixth agricultural and industrial exhibition at Sri Sphatikapuri Kshetra at Pattanayakanahalli in Sira taluk on Wednesday.

Nanjhavadhoota Swamiji of Srikshetra has been organising the exhibition every year since 2002 as part of the annual jatra and cattle fair at Srikshetra. Last year, the exhibition was held for nine days. Besides farmers, nearly one-lakh members of Stree Shakti self-help groups visited the exhibition. Raitha sammelans and Stree Shakthi samaveshas were organised. They were successful in drawing the attention of the Government towards the need to undertaking irrigation projects in the region.

Tumkur Zilla Panchayat supported the swamiji by opening stalls of its various departments. Srikshetra sources said that the swamiji had invited a few Union Government departments and public sector undertakings to take part in this year's exhibition. "The response is encouraging. The 14-day event will be on a large-scale this year. It will provide more information on the progress achieved in agriculture and industry.
