Kensri's Futures tournaments launched

Bangalore: Sports along with good academics provides an all-round personality development to youngsters and a firm believer in that concept is Shreesh Kumar, an NRI, who runs the Kensri School here and along with it a sports academy for budding young talent.

Kensri launched its fourth annual Futures tournament in cricket, tennis and basketball on Saturday and the unique aspect of the competition is that the events are basically for novices.

"There are tournaments for kids in the under-14 or 12 categories all over the State, but none for the beginners. Our school has evolved the Futures concept around that and these tournaments are aimed at children under the age of 10.

"They are not a burden on children as the tournaments are being conducted during weekends. At the end of the Futures season, top eight players in tennis and five teams in cricket and basketball would participate in play-off events," Shreesh said.

Chess festival

Selection trials

The selection trials for the State volleyball men and women teams will be held at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore on Jan. 14 at 9 a.m. The selected teams are scheduled to take part in the South Zone volleyball championship at Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4.
