NEW DELHI: Cutting across party lines, Delhi MLAs demanded relief for the Capital's citizens from the ongoing sealing and demolition drives at the special session of the Delhi Assembly called to discuss the Master Plan for Delhi-2021 on Saturday. Leader of Opposition Jagdish Mukhi termed the plan a "death warrant'' for the people and "a good essay with no substance''. Demanding that sealing and demolitions should stop till the time the Assembly is discussing the issue, he said the worst part of the Master Plan was that it spoke about a "redevelopment scheme'' for the unauthorised colonies which is practically not possible. The BJP leader also charged that in the identification of 2,183 roads for mixed land use there had been a lot of corruption with some 100 per cent commercial roads being left out and some with just 10 per cent commercial use being identified for the purpose. He said irrespective of these roads mixed land use should be allowed in all the buildings. . Nationalist Congress Party leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri lamented that the suggestions made by non-official DDA members -- MLAs Mahabal Mishra, Zile Singh Chauhan and Mange Ram Garg, and Councillors Virender Kasana and Ishwar Dass -- had not been included in the Master Plan draft circulated in the Delhi Assembly. He wondered if the DDA would consign suggestions made by the House to the bin as well.
