Semifinalists spotted

VISAKHAPATNAM: Holder Mumbai and runner-up Chennai, along with Visakhapatnam and Tuticorin, moved into semifinals of the all-India Major Ports' hockey championship here on Saturday.

Chennai was held by Kolkota 1-1 on Saturday and in the penalty strokes competition to decide the pool topper, it beat Tuticorin 3-1.

Visakhapatnam defeated Paradip 4-0 with K. Bhavani Shankar scoring a brace in the second half after V.N. Murthy and K.V. Anjaneya Rao scored one each in the first half.

In badminton, Visakhapatnam recorded two wins on the second day. It beat Kandla 3-0 and Mormugao 3-0. Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust beat Mormugao 3-0 and lost 0-3 to Kandla.
