Villagers threaten to stall road work

Koraput: Villagers of Paikopuki have threatened to stall the PMGSY road works near Mahadeiput panchayat in Koraput block demanding restoration of a 12-year-old boy to his parents. A contractor Arvind Singh Sidhu had taken the boy, Ramseh Barik, along with him for construction work with a promise to send Rs 1,000 every month to his parents, Phuldhar Barik, father of the boy, said. However, as the contractor failed to send any amount he asked the contractor to send his son back. He had also promised to send Rs.1000 every month to the parents . But he informed the villagers now that the child was missing from Bhilai.

Irate villagers approached the district police for action in this regard. Arvind had already left the place and the road work was now taken up by another contractor, OIC of Koraput sadar police station B.K. Mishra said.
