Koraput: Forty-six-year-old Meti Muduli of Kusumbhatta village under Kebidi panchayat in Borigumma block of Koraput district was killed by an elephant on Thursday evening. Meti was returning home with her husband Chakra Muduli from Kenduguda, a neighbouring village, around 8 p.m. when a herd of 10 elephants attacked them. One elephant caught Meti with the tusk and smashed her head on the ground, Chakra said. Earlier in the day, the elephants had entered a tomato field near Talo Mangra village in Koraput block and one of the pachyderms lifted a small child with the tusk. Before the frightened mother could do anything , the elephant left the child on the ground gently and the child survived. With these attacks people are spending sleepless nights while the administration was looking helpless.
