Rousing reception to padayatra

Conspiracy hatched by votaries of united Andhra, says ex-Sarpanch

NALGONDA: Cutting across party lines, people accorded rousing reception to `Telangana Matti Manushula Padayatra', launched by former Sarpanch of Alagadapa, Venepalli Pandu Ranga Rao on January 1, at Palair bridge near Kodad.

Clad in the typical Telangana farmer's outfit and with a Telangana flag in his hand, Mr. Rao remained the center of attraction in the march.

The team could cover 140 km at the end of the sixth day on Saturday.

It would reach Hyderabad on January 10. The Telangana Rastra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhar Rao would welcome the team, TRS sources said.

" It is disheartening that not even a single mainstream political party held discussion on the Telangana issue on the party forum," Mr. Pandu Ranga Rao told The Hindu .

He alleged that conspiracy was being hatched by the votaries of united Andhra after Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao's stunning victory in the Karimnagar by-elections. "TRS activists and people of the backward regions should realise that it is now or never situation. If we don't raise our voices, the exploitation of this area would continue," he maintained.
