ADILABAD: Opposition parties, which have formed the Basar IIT sadhana samiti will organise a public meeting at Basar on January 11, which will be attended among others by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhara Rao and former Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor Jaishankar. According to the organisers, the meeting will be attended by a large number of supporters from Adilabad, Nizamabad and Nanded district in Maharashtra. At a press conference at the relay hunger strike camp in front of the district Collectorate on Saturday, samiti convenor Lanka Raghavulu and co-convenor Ch. Suhasini Reddy demanded resignations of Congress MLAs in the district over their failure to get the IIT sanctioned at Basar.
Appeal
Referring to two MLAs meeting the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Friday with an appeal to establish the IIT at Basar, they said the event was rather a formality. Meanwhile, 60 activists of the samiti were arrested by the Two Town Police for picketing the Collectorate in the morning. They were released subsequent to signing personal bonds.
