CHENNAI: Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders), the international organisation that provides emergency medical assistance to distressed communities around the world, is planning to recruit more medical and paramedical professionals from Chennai for its volunteering efforts. "We already have 18 volunteers from India on various international assignments. We are now looking to recruit more volunteers. In the next two years, we plan to go to different regions of the country to mobilise them," Willem van Lippen, head of department, Field Human Resources, told reporters during a presentation of MSF activities at MIOT Hospitals. Two doctors from MIOT Hospitals would join the MSF team each year, from this year. "We have already established a recruitment unit in New Delhi and are looking for medical and paramedical, logistical, administrative and human resources personnel who have a minimum of two years of professional experience," Mr. van Lippen said.
The mandate
Training with the MSF will expose young medical professionals to the sufferings of distressed communities all over the world, apart from helping them imbibe professional ethics, P.V.A. Mohandas, managing director, MIOT Hospitals, said. More information about MSF's recruitment drive can be had by e-mailing willem_van_lippen@msf.org.hk, or by dialling (852) 9219 5959.
