HYDERABAD: Apartment owners in the twin cities would have to shell out more money every month towards water and sewerage charges. Each of the individual flat in a multi-storeyed building would henceforth have to pay Rs. 90 per month and an additional 35 per cent sewerage cess on this minimum rate. This move is in a bid to bring apartment owners on a par with individual house owners. The levy of these minimum charges comes into effect on January 1, 2007. A water board press release on Saturday explained that hitherto each individual house or a multi-storeyed building was paying a monthly minimum charge of Rs. 90 per month.
Loss of revenue
Recently, the Comptroller and Auditor-General had pointed out that the board was losing revenue because of this anomaly. The present move to rationalise the tariff by including each apartment in a multi-storeyed building was not applicable to other categories, the press note said.
