CHENNAI: Macmillan India Limited launched revised editions of their English and value education series on Saturday here. Revisions, including phonic reading, skimming and scanning exercises, and other interesting projects, were incorporated, following suggestions from schools and academic counsellors. A workshop-cum-panel discussion was organised for teachers and educationists on the occasion. Andal Damodaran, vice president, Indian Council for Child Welfare, presided. She gave away the first copies of the revised Sunshine series of readers and workbooks for classes I to VIII for English and the Garden of Life series for classes I to X for Value Education. The Sunshine series features age-appropriate stories and poems and includes enhanced language awareness inputs in the revised edition. The Garden of Life series includes notes for teachers and parents, apart from exercises to encourage thought and help children adjust to the world around them. Manjula Duraiswamy, product manager, Macmillan, conducted the workshop, titled `Language and Values Today' with the aim of empowering teachers with useful tips on the changing classroom scene. Rajeswari Menon, principal, SBOA; Vijayan, correspondent, Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School (MHSS); Surya Sekar, principal, Krishnaswamy MHSS; Subhala, principal, Sankara Senior School and Padmini Sriraman participated in the panel discussion.
