COMMENDABLE EFFORT: Actor Sivakumar (right) releases the new weekly `Chinnathirai' in Chennai on Wednesday.
CHENNAI: A new weekly magazine, `Chinnathirai', exclusively for television news was launched on Wednesday by actor Sivakumar. The first copy was received by Latha Rajendran, correspondent, Dr. MGR Janaki College, where the function was held. On the occasion, the title `Vettri Selvi' was conferred on Radhika Sarath Kumar by M. Saravanan. Actor Sivakumar felicitated Radhika and said, "It is an apt title for Radhika." In her acceptance speech, Radhika said it was a commendable effort on the part of Manjula Ramesh to start a new magazine, which would cater to the growing small screen industry. "I always encourage women ready to enter the business field and particularly the publishing industry. I think `Chinnathirai' would be a bridge between the viewers, producers and channels." M. Saravanan, who presided, commended the effort to bring out a magazine exclusively for the small screen. M. Murali of Krishna sweets, Nirmala Periasamy, S.N. Vasanth, Viduthalai and Sivan Srinivas, office bearers of various association of the small screen, felicitated Radhika and welcomed the new magazine. Television personality Vijay Athiraj was the master of ceremony. `Chinnathirai' comes from the Gnana Aalayam magazine group.
