Poll officials killed

Diphu: As Assam grappled with the carnage unleashed by the ULFA, another militant group killed eight polling personnel and injured eight others during elections to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council on Saturday.

Official sources said suspected Karbi Longri National Liberation Front insurgents exploded an improvised explosive device and fired on polling personnel when they were returning after the close of voting. — PTI
