The third place went to Ernakulam (360 points) while the host district managed to secure only the fourth position (358 points). The following are the points scored by the remaining districts: Thrissur (354 points); Kottayam (348 points); Alappuzha (343 points); Kasaragod (342 points); Kollam (333 points); Malappuram (334 points); Wayanad (292 points); Pathanamthitta (280 points) and Idukki (257 points). Among schools, the Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Thevalli, Kollam, emerged the topper with 69 points while SVGV Higher Secondary School, Kidangannoor, Pathanamthitta, secured the second spot with 65 points. Minister for Education M.A. Baby gave away prizes to the winners.
3,000 participants
More than 3,000 selected contestants from 14 districts of the State took part in the four-day event. The competitions were held in 93 categories with one candidate each for an event from every district. A total of 1,408 boys and 1,266 girls won `A' grades in the competition. As many as 85 contestants were allowed to participate in the competition through court appeals while 42 participants were admitted based on the reference made by the district appeal committee. However, the results of candidates referred to by the district appeal committee will be published only in consultation with the Government. Minister for Education M.A. Baby appealed to the students to refrain from the practice of learning art forms for the sake of earning grace mark in academics. He was speaking here at the valedictory function of the festival. There should be a genuine interest from the part of the candidates in learning various art forms. The intention should not be just to get points, he said. More than the glory of winning the prize, a contestant should always be focussed on giving his or her best performance.
Mankode Radhakrishnan, MLA, presided over the function.
