TIRUCHI: The Tamil Nadu Consumer Federation has urged the city police to convene a meeting of the State Transport Corporation, bus operators, bus and autorickshaw drivers' associations, consumer organisations and traders, among others, to discuss ways and means to check the accident rate in the city roads. In a communication to the Police Commissioner (city), the secretary of the federation, M. Sekaran, said that a similar meeting held in 2005 provided many important suggestions to the city police. Such meetings should be held at regular intervals, he added in the release.
