Rupee ends lower against $

MUMBAI: The rupee fell steeply against the U.S. currency on Monday due to heavy dollar demand along with sharp fall in share prices and ended at Rs. 44.45/47 a dollar, showing a steep 16.50 paise fall over the close on Friday.

In active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit resumed weak at 44.37/38 a dollar from last Friday's close of 44.3050/3150 per dollar and after rising marginally to 44.36, declined sharply and closed at 44.45/47 a dollar. — PTI
