Antony to interact with soldiers

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: A. K. Antony will shun the beaten path on his maiden visit to the north-east after taking over as Defence Minister.

Apart from being briefed on the operational situation in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, Mr. Antony will also ascertain the living conditions of the soldiers. Concerned over distress deaths in the armed forces and complaints regarding food and living conditions reaching his office, Mr. Antony will interact with soldiers and inspect some facilities meant for them during his stopovers at army establishments there.
