GSPC to be listed in 2008

NEW DELHI: Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (GSPC) will float its initial public offer (IPO) in 2008, State Chief Minister Narender Modi said on Monday at the annual meeting of FICCI here. The State government-owned company had struck a gigantic gas discovery in the Bay of Bengal. The reserves are estimated at 20 trillion cubic feet (tcf) and the gas find is valued at almost 50 billion dollar. Mr. Modi, however, did not specify how much equity the State government was planning to dilute through the float. At present, the Gujarat government has a 99 per cent stake in the company, while the balance one per cent is owned by Gujarat Gas, a British Gas subsidiary. — PTI
