Chevrolet variants to cost Rs. 3.99 lakh and above

CHENNAI
: The base model of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA 1.2 will cost Rs. 3.99 lakh ex-showroom in Chennai. Aveo U-VA 1.2 LS is priced at Rs. 4.39 lakh, Aveo U-VA 1.2 LT at Rs. 4.79 lakh and Aveo U-VA 1.2 LT with option pack at Rs. 5.10 lakh ex-showroom in Chennai. The vehicle was launched here on Monday, ahead of other cities in the South.
Addressing a press conference here, P. Balendran, Vice-President, General Motors India, said the five-door premium hatchback "has been engineered for India." He said General Motors would roll out the much-awaited mini car by April this year. He said the upcoming facility in Maharashtra would go on stream by the middle of 2008. This facility would make all new products that General Motors was planning to introduce in India. The Maharashtra facility would have a capacity to produce 1.40 lakh vehicles, he said. The company was also expanding its capacity at its plant in Gujarat from 60,000 to 85,000 vehicles. The expansion would be completed by April next, Mr. Balendran added.
