NEW DELHI: Seeking a renewed commitment and dedication for welfare of people, especially the poor, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on Monday said the country's growth strategy needed to be redefined and development issues made inclusive of all sections of society.

Camp inaugurated

Inaugurating the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp 2007 here, Mr. Shekhawat said there was a need to have growth with equity that would help bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.

Economic uplift

The real economic uplift of the common man must get undivided attention, he said, urging the young cadets to always aim high, have great dreams and above all cherish the precious dream of a strong, prosperous, fully developed and vibrant India.

Social temper

The Vice-President said the nation needs devoted youth with motivation and social temper who can seek their individual happiness in the happiness of their fellow countrymen.

Applauding the cadets, he said that through their sense of discipline, unity and social service they had come to represent the sublime values of our society.

Mr. Shekhawat said the NCC would inculcate in the cadets best citizenship values and help them grow as responsible citizens of society, making them ever sensitive to the problems of the country and its people.
