Air-horns on the way out in Kozhikode
Ever wondered which type of vehicles causes the most number of road accidents in Kozhikode city? An annual report of the police reveals that buses were involved in 512 and lorries in 237 of the 1,697 road accidents in the city the previous year. Traffic officials say one of the causes of buses and lorries getting involved in a large number of accidents is use of air-horns. The city police have come up with a solution to tackle the menace by banning air- and digital horns on buses from January 15. Passengers and others can call the toll-free numbers 1090 and 100 to report about vehicles using these horns.
