Coimbatore: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced SMS and e-mail alert facility for basic landline phone (Bfone) customers for ascertaining their bill amounts. In a release issued here, BSNL said that the SMS alerts would be despatched from the BSNL portal (http://www.bsnl.in). The basic phone customers could enable this feature by registering their names. The SMS alert would be generated and sent to customers as soon as the bill was generated and three days before the pay-by-date. The SMS would contain the phone number, bill amount and the pay-by-date. For using this facility, customers would have to access the portal and give the registration details by clicking the register link. During registration, the mobile number of the customers would be ascertained for sending SMS alerts. Later on, the customer needed to add the Bfone numbers and select the SMS alert. The BSNL Coimbatore has centralised the phonogram service (1585) for booking of telegrams through Bfone at the Central Telegraph office. The service was available to all Bfone customers round the clock.
