Lawyers boycott courts

PUDUCHERRY: Members of the Pondicherry Bar Association boycotted courts on Tuesday demanding action against policemen for their lapse in preventing an under-trial from creating a ruckus in the court on Monday.

Ramesh, who was booked in several cases, allegedly abused a Judicial Magistrate for the delay in the completion of the trial. Following the incident, Chief Judicial Magistrate K. Damodaran had taken suo motto cognisance of the offence under sections IPC 294 (obscene words), IPC 355 (insult) and IPC 426 (damages to public property).
