First prize for school

VIZIANAGARAM: St. Joseph's English Medium High School here won the first prize at the A.P. State-level Science Exhibition held at Guntur from January 3 to 6. The school headmistress Phelomina told a press conference on Tuesday that L. Phani Kumar and G. Sri Siddartha of class X exhibited a working model `automatic light controller in railway tunnels' under the sub-theme `Transport and communication'.

Gadgets damaged

Owing to high voltage, electronic and electrical appliances in Anandapeta area of the town were damaged on Tuesday. M. Ganeswara Rao, a resident of the area, suffered burns when he tried to put out flames in his house. Fire-fighting personnel came to his rescue.
