BANGALORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy honoured the former Chief Minister S.R. Bommai with the Ekikarana Award for his role in the re-organisation of the State, in Bangalore on Tuesday. Mr. Bommai was one of those chosen for the Ekikarana Awards for their contribution to the State reorganisation movement, popularly known as the Ekikarana Movement.
Poor health
But, owing to poor health, he could not attend the award function held as part of Suvarna Karnataka celebrations on November 1. Hence, the Chief Minister presented the award to Mr. Bommai at his residence itself. "You should implement the D.M. Nanjundappa committee's recommendations to remove regional imbalances so that the dream of the ekikarana activists will come true," Mr. Bommai said.
