Thiruvananthapuram: The National Child Development Council is embarking on a State-wide awareness and rehabilitation programme for children rescued from begging rackets and employers. The programme named Ammaveedu would take off on Wednesday with a formal inauguration in front of the Secretariat, said council State general convener Punalur Somarajan at a press conference here on Monday. Volunteers of the council would take a rally around the Secretariat premises to highlight the need to rehabilitate the children. The inauguration is scheduled to be done by three children, Kavitha, Sunil and Vinay, who were rescued by the council from the streets of the city. The project was aimed at imparting love and providing basic education to the rescued children.
