Police free Intermediate student

Relative of the girl who allegedly abducted her with the help of five of his associates arrested

ANANTAPUR: Swift action by the police helped in the rescue of an Intermediate student from the custody of alleged abductors in the district on Tuesday. The police arrested a relative of the girl who allegedly abducted the girl from the busy bus station here with the help of five of his associates.

According to the police, Vijayalxmi (18)was pursuing her Intermediate as a residential student of a private junior college in the district headquarters. As the college announced holidays for Sankranti, the girl's mother Alivelu came here to take her daughter home.

Vijayalaxmi, her mother and her classmate Anuradha were waiting for a bus to Rayadurg.

A Tata Sumo entered the bus station and four persons alighted it and approached the three women. They pushed aside Alivelu and Anuradha and forcibly took away Vijayalaxmi.

Police informed

The vehicle sped away even before the girl's mother could react. A few autorickshaw drivers informed the matter to the police.

A police team reached the bus station and found a cell phone, which could have fallen out of the pocket of one of the abductorsand by showing the photographs available in the cell phone to Alivelu, the police identified the abductor as Nageswara Rao, brother of Alivelu's sister-in-law.

A police team led by One Town Sub-Inspector Shubha Kumar chased the abductors and succeeded in catching them near Garladinne within half-an-hour of the incident. While the police caught Ramu, Chandra and Rajesh along with Nageswara Rao, two others escaped.
