Rebel faction criticises Gowda

New Delhi : Janata Dal (Secular) rebel faction on Tuesday lambasted H.D. Deve Gowda for his reported readiness to extend issue-based support to the National Democratic Alliance, saying that the former Prime Minister has come out in his ``true colours''.

``Deve Gowda has exposed himself that he is nearer to NDA than to the UPA. He has come out in his true colours that power to his family is dearer to him than principles,'' P.G.R. Sindhia, secretary general of the rebel faction told reporters here.

Mr. Gowda has deviated from the policies of secularism. ``In the name of secularism, he has taken all benefits. He became the Prime Minister in the name of secularism.

``His family became the highest beneficiary of secularism. He got 58 MLAs and he has been able to achieve the goal of his son becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka,'' he charged.

Claiming that his group was the real JD(S), Mr. Sindhia said they had already informed the Election Commission about the ``deviation'' of Mr. Gowda from the secular policies.
