Demands cancellation of clearance for proposed clay factory at Pallithura

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fish workers from all over the district on Tuesday launched a 101-hour agitation in front of the Secretariat demanding cancellation of Government clearance for the proposed clay factory at Pallithura, ban on using explosives for fishing and an end to the eviction of women vendors. The stir was organised under the banner of the Kerala Swathantra Matsya Thozhilali Federation.

Federation State president T. Peter, district secretary Anto Elias, Fr. Laberine Yesu, Elizabeth Antony, Aneeta Shaji and J. Jose addressed the gathering.

The agitation led to a `statement war' between two rival factions of the organisation. A press note quoting general secretary P.P. John said the federation was not involved in the stir.
