Intelligence officer `caught'
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE:
The presence of an Intelligence Officer of the police at the news conference annoyed Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council H.K. Patil here on Tuesday.
Mr. Patil, who took exception to this, said: "It is a reflection of the manner in which the Government is maintaining a surveillance over the Opposition leaders."
Even as the official, Boraiah, apologised to him, Mr. Patil said he would bring the matter to the notice of Governor T.N. Chaturvedi and Chairman of the Legislative Council. Mr. Patil alleged that sending intelligence officials to the offices of the Opposition Leaders invaded the independent functioning of his office. The intelligence officer, who reportedly used to attend press conferences of Opposition Leaders claiming to be a reporter, was caught by the staff of Mr. Patil on Tuesday.
