Minister's remarks on power draw flak

Staff Reporter

KADAPA: The Government has failed to ensure proper power supply but is holding Collectors, officials and the previous TDP Government responsible for the crisis, Telugu Desam Party leaders alleged on Tuesday.

TDP city president B. Hariprasad and official spokesman Nazeer Ahmed were reacting at a press conference to Power Minister Mohd. Shabbeer Ali's remarks that the TDP Government was responsible for the power crisis. The Chandrababu Naidu Government ensured nine-hour power supply to farmers at 30 paise per unit, despite recurring droughts, they said. When adequate power was available, this Government sold power to other States at Rs. 2.80 a unit and was now purchasing from them at Rs. 4.40 a unit, they stated.
