Satellite city to be a boon for poor

KADAPA: Four thousand houses being built in the satellite city at Thollagangannapalle on the outskirts of Kadapa at a cost of Rs. 5 crores will be a boon for poor sections, Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said on Tuesday.

Reviewing progress of the satellite city at a meeting here, he exhorted officials to complete 640 houses in the first phase before Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's scheduled visit on January 24. Two apartments were being converted into one for the convenience of the poor, he said.

All facilities

The apartments, being constructed with HUDCO funds in addition to Rs. 44,000 sanctioned per house by the State Government, would be equipped with all facilities, Mr. Krishna Babu said.

Three contractors were being engaged to complete the works expeditiously.
