HYDERABAD: City-based software major Satyam Computer Services and the Microsoft India Development Center (MIDC) topped in the awards chart, named top exporter and top MNC exporter, respectively, in the IT sector. Satyam chairman B. Ramalinga Raju and Srini Koppulu, vice-president and MD, MIDC received the awards from Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at the inaugural of GITEX India 2007 here on Tuesday. Other awardees include Wipro and Oracle India, named second top exporter and second top MNC exporter respectively. Sangita Reddy of Apollo Health Street was recognised as top woman entrepreneur from Andhra Pradesh. In the IT-enabled service sector, Genpact India and HSBC India group came first and second, while Nipuna Services and 24/7 Customer came first and second as Indian exporters in the sector. In the hardware sector, Linkwell Telesystems and I-Com were adjudged top and second top companies, while OSI Systems was named top MNC exporter. Value Labs and Semantic Space Technologies were named top and second top exporters in the IT sector among small and medium enterprises (SME) while in the ITES sector, Zavata India and Transdyne IT Services came first and second. Facilities in Tier-II locations were also recognised with Pandit View Software getting a special award for initiation of IT in Anantapur. In Vijayawada/Guntur sector, Apex Solutions and P.B. Systems (India) came first and second as top exporters while in Visakhapatnam, Symbiosis Technologies and Miracle Software Systems were named number one and two.
Education sector
There was special recognition for educational institutions that functioned as Jawahar Knowledge Centres and got placements for their students. G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College, Kurnool managed to see 110 of its students placed in 2006. Likewise, IBM, Infosys and Satyam came first, second and third in number of students recruited, by taking in 725, 679 and 674 students, respectively. Also, two IAS officers B.P. Acharya and Jayesh Ranjan, who are serving as vice-chairmen and MDs of the APIIC and HUDA, respectively, were felicitated for outstanding performance and coordination with IT & C Department on IT promotion initiatives.
