BELGAUM: Minister for Horticulture and district in-charge Shashikant A. Naik has assured to arrange a high-level meeting to discuss the alleged slow progress of the construction of Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) and ensure release of funds to expedite the works. The Minister presided over the Karnataka Development Programme meeting here on Monday. He asked the officials concerned to make judicious use of available funds to expedite works in view of the Medical Council of India sending a team to inspect the progress in respect of infrastructure provided for the Government medical college in March. He said though all the teaching posts for first year MBBS were filled, he would take up the process of appointing teachers and other staff necessary for second year.
Funds
Deputy Commissioner Shalini Rajneesh informed that of the Rs. 39 crore sanctioned, the Government had released Rs. 20 crore.
