Two killed, 12 hurt in accident

HASSAN: Two persons were killed and 12 injured in a collision involving a lorry and KSRTC bus on Hassan-Chikmagalur Road on Tuesday morning.

According to the police, the bus was going from Chikmagalur to Mysore. When the bus was near Huvinahalli Kavala Hosahalli, about eight km from Hassan, a lorry that was going towards Belur, lost control and rammed the bus coming in the opposite direction, the police said.

Two men who were travelling by the lorry died on the spot.

Cleaner of the lorry, Yogesh, who was seriously injured, was admitted to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences along with the other 11 injured.

Drivers of both the vehicles are among the injured. Most of those injured were travelling by the lorry.

The dead have not been identified and the bodies are kept in the mortuary.

In another accident, Puttanna (56), who tried to board a moving bus, slipped and fell and was caught under the wheels of a bus.

He died on the spot. The bus was going from Hassan to Alur. He is the resident of Thimmanahalli village in Hassan taluk.
