Alert in Pune after disclosures of "militant"

PUNE: After a suspected Jammu and Kashmir militant disclosed that he procured arms from a contact in Pune, IT companies located in Hinjewadi IT Park here have been asked to strengthen security and make access control effective by the police.

Quick response teams have been deployed at strategic locations, including at the airport.

The measures, besides night patrolling, were taken following the disclosure by 32-year-old Imran alias Bilal, who was arrested in Bangalore last Friday, that he procured arms from a contact in Pune in November 2006. The Bangalore police had nabbed Imran from a bus from Hospet on January 5. — PTI
