Plots' auction fetches Rs. 48 crores

NEW DELHI: On the second day of its four-day auction programme for residential plots, the Delhi Development Authority on Tuesday sold 24 residential plots located at Model Town for a total of Rs. 48.364 crores as against a reserved sum of Rs. 22.995 crores.

Of the plots that went under the hammer, 18 measured 270 square metres, five were of 225 square metres and one of 292.5 square metres.

The Authority said the auction would continue for two more days up to Thursday and residential plots located in Vikaspuri, Jasola Pocket II, Prashant Vihar, Ashok Vihar Phase-II and Naraina Vihar would be sold.

Flyover construction gets L-G's nod

NEW DELHI: With the Lieutenant-Governor's office giving approval for construction of a Rs.100-crore flyover at Dabri Mor, people living in Dwarka sub-city and parts of West Delhi can now look forward to a smooth ride in the area, said MCD Standing Committee Chairman J. K. Sharma after inaugurating a complaint centre-cum-Residents' Welfare Association office at A-3 Block at Janakpuri.

The civic body would also construct a grade-separator at Sagarpur crossing in the area making the busy Pankha Road-Outer Ring Road signal-free, he said, adding that the MCD had also given its approval for covering the drain between Sagarpur and Uttam Nagar Crossing.

School plays host to U.S. students

NEW DELHI: Manav Sthali School at New Rajendra Nagar here played host to seven delegates from San Francisco in the U.S. under the Children's International Summer Villages Interchange Programme. The delegates were here from December 14 to January 4.

Earlier, a group of six Manav Sthali students and a leader from the school had visited San Francisco under the programme that aims at enabling students to acquire skills of communication.

CRPF training course opened

NEW DELHI: Central Reserve Police Force Director-General Jyoti Kishan Dutt on Tuesday urged newly recruited gazetted officers to develop the necessary skills to fight stress at all levels in the force.

Speaking at the inauguration of the basic training course of the 38th batch of Directly Appointed Gazetted Officers in neighbouring Gurgaon, Mr. Dutt underlined the importance of discipline and knowledge in overcoming all challenges that confront officers in the field.
