JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government proposes to establish 52 medical mobile units across the State by the end of the current financial year to provide health care at the doorsteps of the poor in remote rural areas. State Medical and Health Minister Digambar Singh said here on Tuesday that two mobile units each would be established in 20 desert and tribal-dominated districts and one each in 12 other districts. Each mobile unit will comprise two vehicles carrying doctors and paramedical staff as well as the equipment for tests and diagnosis. Dr. Singh said the facilities of X-ray, ECG and blood, urine and sugar tests would be available in these units. The Minister said the mobile teams would provide emergency treatment, delivery facilities and immunisation and supply medicines free of cost to patients. The State Government proposes to spend Rs. 21.42 crores on the project, with each mobile unit costing Rs. 41 lakhs. Dr. Singh said the mobile units would be operated with the help of non-Government organisations, medical relief societies and district health committees. NGOs will be required to make arrangements for adequate staff on their own for running the units.
