Petition to ban yatra dismissed

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed for default and non-prosecution a petition by a Bangalore-based advocate seeking a direction to the State Government and its authorities to take steps to prohibit the Shobha Yatra. It is to be held as part of the Dattamala celebrations of the disputed Guru Dattatreya Peetha at Bababudangiri in Chikamagalur district.

The petitioner, Raghumohan Reddy, had said that the BJP and some of the members of the Sangh Parivar had decided to make Dattamala Abhyana a major issue and planned to hold Shobha Yatra at more than 200 places.
