"Over 40 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procured in Haryana"

CHANDIGARH: Over 40.24 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in Haryana agricultural markets so far during this kharif season, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here on Tuesday.

He said that out of this, over 20.45 lakh metric tonnes had been procured by six Government agencies at the minimum support price and the remaining 19.79 lakh metric tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders.

Hafed had procured 9.03 lakh metric tonnes, Food and Supplies Department 6.07 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation 2.43 lakh metric tonnes, Confed 1.77 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 1.04 lakh metric tonnes and Food Corporation of India 11,037 metric tonnes.

Meanwhile, the Haryana Government has forwarded Rs.1.65-crore scheme to the Government of India for electrifying 149 hamlets of Morni block in Panchkula district.

He disclosed that 45 hamlets situated in the hilly terrain of Morni block had already been electrified.
