Sangareddy: The social audit team led by K.T. Ramakrishna of RINA India Private Limited, reviewing the working of the district administration, began its work from the District Collector's camp office. According to a press release here today, the team enquired about timings of the office, toilet facilities for women staff, child labour and even looked into the possible sexual harassment of women in Government offices. The team called various section heads and looked into the attendance registers, salaries and other benefits and records of redressal of grievances of staff. The team expressed satisfaction over the ongoing training programmes for the staff for improvement in their performance. The social audit team then visited the Office of District Superintendent of Police and sought details of working hours, details of women police and enquired about the steps initiated for the welfare of the force. Superintendent of Police R.B. Nayak said that men and women in uniform have been given training in yoga to lessen work-induced stress. They also visited the district hospital and visited the center for the destitute. According to the press release, Mr. Ramakrishnan has pointed out that he has noted a marked difference in the nature of officials, which could be attributed to the `Parivartan' programme launched by the Collector. He also said that he would further look into the impact of Akshara Deepam, Nirmal Gram villages, SHGs and other activities in the district. If found suitable, Medak would be the first district in the world to receive the SA 8000-2001 certification.
