Akhtar to miss first Test

Karachi: Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar will not be able to join the national team before the first cricket Test against South Africa in Johannesburg starting on January 11, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said on Tuesday.

``He was playing a first-class match in Islamabad and there were flight problems. As a result, he will now leave on the 11th and be available for the second Test in Port Elizabeth from the 19th,'' the official said. — PTI
