Supervisor denies role

BANGALORE: Girish Babu, supervisor of the main accused Shiva Kumar in the Pratibha murder case, has denied any role in the killing. Girish Babu, who was working as a supervisor in SRS Travels at the time of Pratibha's murder on December 16, 2005, denied he had threatened Shiva Kumar. Deposing before a fast track sessions court on Tuesday, he denied that he destroyed his mobile phone in order to avoid detection of communication between him and Shiva Kumar.

He said he had not consumed alcohol with Shiva Kumar hours before Pratibha went missing in the early hours of December 13.

On December 14, the police came to HP asking for the missing Pratibha who was last seen in the vehicle driven by Shiva Kumar. Babu immediately contacted Shiva Kumar.

"He told me that he had gone to Malleswaram to drop an employee. He also told me that he was innocent and had left the vehicle in a garage on December 13. He asked me to inform the police," Babu said. He denied that he was arrested along with Shiva Kumar and that the police had to use force to get details from him.
