A van ran over a three-year-old girl Sowmya playing before her house at Bapunagar in Amberpet on Tuesday.
The victim's father Raju, a carpenter, was working in his house when the accident occurred. Scared of retaliation from locals, the van driver fled the spot abandoning the vehicle. The Amberpet police are looking out for him.
Two held
The city police on Tuesday arrested two persons -- Syed Sajid and Mohd. Nawab - and seized five mobile phones from their possession.
According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, the duo used to allegedly steal the mobile phones from passengers travelling in RTC buses.
NBWs pending
They were earlier held under different police station limits in the city. Nine non-bailable warrants were pending against them, the release added.
