ICICI loan to help State purchase power

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The ICICI has sanctioned a huge loan of Rs 1,100 crore to AP Transco. This was stated in a press note issued by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy's office following a review of power supply situation by him here on Tuesday.

The large loan is for purchase of additional power by the utility from outside sources.

The note quoted the Chief Minister as saying that power supply registered a slight improvement but the cut would continue on domestic and industrial sectors to enable the Transco to ensure seven-hour supply to agriculture pumpsets. The demand on Tuesday stood at 155 million units.
