HYDERABAD: An alleged brothel operator Laxman Kumar, 32, died after jumping from the second floor of an apartment building while trying to escape from police at Uppal after Monday midnight. According to police, the victim hailing from Guntur and his 28-year-old mistress from Nellore, used to operate brothels by taking flats on rent in different parts of the city. They recently moved into a flat Kalyanpuri in Uppal and were arranging sex workers for customers through a person named Rajender Reddy, the police said. Kumar and Reddy consumed liquor till midnight while a couple of customers spent time with two sex workers in the flat. The customers were going away on their bikes around 1 a.m. when Uppal constable Md. Ali and Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Ali tried to intercept them. "Our policemen grew suspicious as the two bike riders sped away. Later, they spotted Reddy coming down the apartment in an intoxicated condition," Uppal Inspector Muthyam Reddy said. Reddy could not explain his presence at the building.
Verification
The police party started verifying with residents in the building when he said he lived in one of the flats. "Soon after seeing our policemen, Kumar started running and jumped off the second floor of the building," the Inspector maintained. He was found lying in a pool of blood with broken head. He was shifted to a hospital, but was declared brought dead.
