Rangasamy urged to put in place Central Act

Special Correspondent

Puducherry: A delegation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) here presented a petition to Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Wednesday seeking his intervention to implement the Central Act to prevent domestic violence. It was led by V. Perumal, secretary, Puducherry CPI (M). He said in a release later that the instances of women facing violence had been on the increase in Puducherry. The Central Act to handle domestic violence would be an effective solution to bring relief to them.

The petition wanted the Chief Minister to create the necessary machinery and appointed designated officer to enforce the legislation.
