SEARCH CONTINUES: Parents and relatives show photographs of missing children to the media in Noida on Wednesday.

GANDHINAGAR: The accused in the Noida serial murders, Moninder Singh Pandher and his servant Surendra Koli, who were brought for tests at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) here, have been kept back in Gandhinagar for at least one more day.

The two were brought back to the FSL on Wednesday morning for a final health check-up after which they were taken to an "unknown destination." They did not reach the Ahmedabad airport till late Wednesday evening as planned.

They are likely to be taken back to Delhi only on Thursday morning.

The FSL wanted them back at the laboratory on Wednesday "at least for a few hours" for a final check-up because the "subjects" experienced stress during the tests.

Originally, the Noida police was due to return to Delhi with the accused on Wednesday morning to produce them before the court as the police remand was to expire on Wednesday evening.

Flight bookings were cancelled on Tuesday night as the FSL wanted them back at the laboratory.

The police also filed an application before the Noida court for extending the remand by two days. This was granted, the sources said.

The FSL sources said the authorities here were being extremely cautious because of Moninder Singh's high blood sugar level.

Even the investigations, which the FSL hoped to complete by Tuesday evening, continued till late night and the civil surgeon of the Gandhinagar civil hospital stayed back at the FSL for monitoring of his health condition.

The sources said both were found to be in good health. But the police refused to divulge the Noida team's travel plans for security reasons.
